Intern Program
The Intern Program at Unitrade Group Holding was launched in 2006. It was designed to train young and high-potential staff to become professional managers with strong administration skills.
Anna Basyuk, Unitrade Group Holding HR Director
The experience that program participants gain during their internship allows them to become sufficiently successful managers. Those interns who receive job offers to work as specialists after program completion experience successful and rapid career growth. And in the future, many of them may become TOP managers at our Company.
Twenty-two people have participated in the Intern Program during the 1st and the 2nd waves. Of these, 14 are now employed with Unitrade Group working at different positions at different departments of the Holding. The 3rd wave of the Intern Program commenced on March 10, 2008. The best graduates of Ukrainian higher education institutions, as well as the leaders of the Holding personnel reserve, are involved in this wave.
During the Program, the participants undergo training, attending different trainings on subjects related to management and business administration as a whole. The Program involves comprehensive study of the work of all Holding divisions and departments (finance, wholesale and retail sales, procurement activities, marketing, HR, PR, retail development). Studying in class is conducted during the entire Program period. One of the rotation stages provides intern coaching by the Holding’s TOP managers.
Upon completion of the Intern Program, the participants receive job offers from the heads of different departments. Currently, former interns hold the following positions with the Holding:
• Head of the planning and budgeting division
• Head of the compensation and benefits division
• ТМ Unitrade brand manager
• City.com electronics hypermarket Store Manager
• Product manager
• Project manager
• Head of the analytical division
• Inventory specialist, and others
Investments made into the Intern Program during the entire period of its existence amount to around half a million dollars. This sum includes training, salaries, bonuses, social transfers, compensation of accommodation costs for those Program participants who are not from Kyiv, and providing interns with laptop computers for their work.
Training expenses made up a significant share of the investments because interns were coached by TT managers, heads of different divisions and departments, company directors, the Holding President, and invited business consultant from Germany, Helmut Beloch.
Interns Comment on Their Intern Program Participation and Job Prospects:
Oleg Kravets, Unitrade Group Holding President Assistant, Head of the Budgeting and Planning Division

My short-range plans are to develop and adjust the budgeting system within the Holding. This will require a great deal of learning, but the office of Financial Manager seams to be quite achievable for me. At the same time, I manage a separate project and can improve my administrative skills in such a way. It could be that progress with regard to my project application will prove to be an appropriate alternative to the financial ladder.
Svetlana Prokhorova, Compensation and Benefits Division Specialist of the HR Department, Groups of Trading Companies of the Holding

During my participation in the Intern Program, I succeeded at understanding the work of each division of the HR Department. This is a rather new area; it bears many prospects and opportunities. My goal is to drive all of the processes being conducted under our division control to a high level, including estimations of employees’ performance efficiency and labor remuneration. I hope that our division will soon experience my contribution in the development of our Holding.
Nikolay Kolomoets, Head of the External Analytics Division of the Commercial Department

A large company is a very complex living body and all of its organs are closely connected. The Intern Program can turn you into a universal business doctor who is able to examine, make exclusions, and prescribe a treatment and cure.
